BAGNANTI - 1966
tempera, inchiostro di China su legno | 65x60After the Luparello family moved from Leonforte to Catania Lita attended the Liceo Artistico. From 1966 to 1970 she was a student at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Catania, where she graduated as a lecturer in 1971.
In Bagnanti and other early paintings Lita Luparello experimented with various techniques and materials especially tempera, Indian ink, egg yolk, and varnishes in order to explore the potentials of colour and transparency. The Bagnanti of 1966 is one such experiment that insists on a transparency and vividness of colour that would hardly have been possible with oil paint.
