PERSPEKTIV-TRANSDIMENSIONAL - 1993
acrilico su sintetico | lato rombo 120The green, the red, the blue, and the yellow rhombi, one on each floor, were designed for this stairwell in one of the Zurich University Hospital buildings. The rational orthogonal brickwork and floor-pattern is dynamically taken up by the reliefs. The rhombus corresponds to the plane of an isometric cube whose gravitational pull is overcome by tilting it from the vertical and letting the two missing rhombi “vanish” into the wall. The themes of the gradual move from one dimension to the next and of colour in relief find a new expression here. Colour is applied on the individual rhombic planes in three tonalities: luminous/luminosa – medium/media – shaded/ombrata. The play of light and shadow thus takes place on two levels: surface colour and changing reflected light.
