L'UOMO SULLA LUNA - 1969

colore nitro trasparente su acciaio | 50x50

This painting was triggered by the landing of the first man on the moon and was shown at an exhibition called “La Luna é Arte”. It belongs to a series of works painted on a base of bright-annealed stainless steel using circles, stripes, and other geometric forms applied with a special transparent varnish. Here again we find the combination of colour and transparency, this time on a reflecting ground. Thus, “the moving eye” is confronted with a new element: the reflection of the surroundings including the viewer.

The bright-annealed (i.e. not polished) chrome or chrome-nickel steel is the chosen material for a whole range of constructive two- and three-dimensional works realised in the 70s over a period of over 10 years (see no. 11ff)
